Feature Fremont

Throughout the summer, Fremont hosts a variety of events, including - as always- their wonderfully diverse Sunday Market. Featuring locally grown produce (offered through PCC), and works from local artists and artisans, the market is a weekend destination for many year round.  One weekend each June, Fremont and surrounding area residents gather and pay tribute to the Summer Solstice.  The famous Solstice Parade and Fremont Fair attracts thousands of people keen to take it all in.  If you go, and have never been before, be aware that the parade features a few nude people with body paint in various designs.  That being said, hopefully  you are not turned off to the Fremont festivities.  Each year the parade is an event Fremont families and Seattle-ites look forward to.  Mark your calendars for June 19th to join in on the festivities! The Solstice Parade begins at 12pm on June 19th, and the Fremont fair begins at 10 am on both the 19th and the 20th.

A bit on the Fremont Atmosphere:

Fremont seems to be bursting these days with art galleries, vintage clothing and furniture stores, darling retail shops, and salons.  Proud to be the original home of the Red Hook Brewery (now in Woodinville), Fremont maintains it's love affair with good beer.  Here you will find several other microbreweries and pubs to enjoy the specialty brew - and most certainly great company to enjoy them with. The nightlife finds the pubs bursting with crowds of locals listening to the various bands, trios and singers that local pubs host. Fremont also has a taste for great food.  Teaming with restaurants of all types from vegan to Ethiopian or Greek to pub fare, you will not leave hungry or dissatisfied.

Although Fremont is primarily residential, the neighborhood has recently seen quite a bit of commercial growth. Despite this construction, the neighborhood has maintained its delicate balance of bohemian culture and closely connected community comfort.
