As a Northwest native, I love all that Seattle has to offer. The energy of the region is contagious. Seattle, like other great cities of the world, has distinct neighborhoods whose vibe is apparent even to a casual visitor. Seattle is known as the coffee capital of the world, and Washington wines have gained international attention. As a coffee and wine lover, I love sampling new coffees and visiting Washington wineries. Welcome to my blog. Thanks for the chance to share some of my Seattle!

Feature Fremont
Throughout the summer, Fremont hosts a variety of events, including - as always- their wonderfully diverse Sunday Market. Featuring locally grown produce (offered through PCC), and works from local artists and artisans, the market is a weekend destination for many year round. One weekend each June, Fremont and surrounding area residents gather and pay tribute to the Summer Solstice. The famous Solstice Parade and Fremont Fair attracts thousands of people keen to take it all in. If you go, and have never been before, be aware that the parade features a few nude people with body paint in various designs. That being said, hopefully you are not turned off to the Fremont festivities. Each year the parade is an event Fremont families and Seattle-ites look forward to. Mark your calendars for June 19th to join in on the festivities! The Solstice Parade begins at 12pm on June 19th, and the Fremont fair begins at 10 am on both the 19th and the 20th.
A bit on the Fremont Atmosphere:
Fremont seems to be bursting these days with art galleries, vintage clothing and furniture stores, darling retail shops, and salons. Proud to be the original home of the Red Hook Brewery (now in Woodinville), Fremont maintains it's love affair with good beer. Here you will find several other microbreweries and pubs to enjoy the specialty brew - and most certainly great company to enjoy them with. The nightlife finds the pubs bursting with crowds of locals listening to the various bands, trios and singers that local pubs host. Fremont also has a taste for great food. Teaming with restaurants of all types from vegan to Ethiopian or Greek to pub fare, you will not leave hungry or dissatisfied.
Although Fremont is primarily residential, the neighborhood has recently seen quite a bit of commercial growth. Despite this construction, the neighborhood has maintained its delicate balance of bohemian culture and closely connected community comfort.
For your own piece of the Fremont lifestyle, see my listing below!

What a wonderful Washington...
In the great Northwest, it isn't so much a matter of where we live, but how we live.
We are truly blessed as Washingtonians to enjoy the luxury of such diverse landscapes. In the course of a four to six hour drive across the state, one can experience National Forests, sprawling orchards and productive land, desert landscapes, soaring mountain peeks, coastal salt water air, even rain forests.
Washingtonians can honestly say - "We have it all."
With regions to suit lifestyles, interests, and livelihoods of all kinds, I encourage you to explore more of Washington. You will be surprised what you find.

Seattle International Film Festival 2010
With just about one week left, there is still plenty of time to take in a showing or participate in an event with the SIFF. The festival will wrap on June 13th after a twenty-five day run with the 2010 Closing Night Gala featuring a screening of Bill Murray and Robert Duvall's new movie Get Low.
Here is a brief on the film as written on the SIFF website, F
"For years, townsfolk have been terrified of backwoods recluse Felix Bush (Robert Duvall). Rumors abound of his unspeakable actions—cold-blooded killings, dealings with the Devil, even strange supernatural powers. Then, one day Felix rides into town with a shotgun and a wad of cash saying he wants to buy a funeral. It’s not your usual funeral Felix wants. On the contrary, he wants a “living funeral,” in which anyone who has ever heard a story about him will come to tell it, while he takes it all in. Sensing a big payday in the offing, fast-talking funeral home owner Frank Quinn (Bill Murray) enlists his young apprentice, Buddy Robinson, to win over Felix’s business. Buddy is no stranger to Felix’s reputation, but what he discovers behind Felix’s surreal plan is a very real, long-held secret. In his first feature film, Academy Award®-winner Aaron Schneider crafts an audaciously witty film that explores the tension between the grandeur of folk tales and the quiet poignancy of a real life laid bare of rumor and legend."
For a sneak peek at the trailer for Get Low, or to purchase tickets to the 2010 SIFF Closing Night Gala on June 13th follow this link.
Can't make the closer, but want to find other screenings?
There are a number of daily screenings at a number of different venues between Everett, Seattle, and Kirkland - it should be fairly easy to find a viewing to fit almost any schedule. Follow this calendar link for information on daily showings and venues in your area. Here is a quick link to all general ticket and gala pricing information.
Or, simply surf through their site a bit. The SIFF website has loads of film, festival, and background information.
Happy screening!
