Boeing Draws Big Names To The Box

Teeing off today and running through the Sunday the 29th, Boeing's Classic at Snoqualmie Ridge (an official stop on the PGA's Tour of Champions) draws big names - Mark O’Meara, Fred Funk, Nick Price, Tom Kite, Fred Couples and Corey Pavin.  This classic for a cause has raised big bucks in the past, benefiting not only Virginia Mason, but also other Seattle area charities.  


With almost a full week left, there is plenty of time to purchase tickets either online or at the gate.  Thanks to Golf Galaxy, this years first day of competition is free to all spectators - "Free Friday" as they call it.  For information on "Free Friday," follow this link.

There is no better way to soak up summer than to explore our beautiful waterways. With plenty of day or weekend destinations to pick from, the only difficulty is in the deciding.

Auction Action! Great wines, wonderful cause.

Touted as "The original, largest and most prestigious charity auction showcasing the stars of Washington wine!" This years Auction of Washington Wines is poised to live up to its fabulous reputation.

Running August 19th through the 21st, this Washington wines weekend is a calendar marking must.
This wonderful event offers the community of Washington vintners the opportunity to give back to a wonderful cause and raise funds for Uncompensated Care at Seattle's Children's Hospital.

Pack a cooler, grab your bag, and head down to the lake.
Seafair weekend is one day closer. So, while you're making plans, consider a few variations on traditional Igloo Cooler fare.

Chicken and Roasted Pepper Sandwich

• 10 cups water
• 6 skinless boneless chicken breast halves (2 1/2 lb)
• 4 large yellow bell peppers
• 2/3 cup blanched slivered almonds, toasted
• 1 garlic clove
• 1 1/2 tablespoons chopped fresh jalapeño including seeds
• 1 cup chopped fresh cilantro
• 1/4 cup mayonnaise
• 3 tablespoons fresh lime juice
• 3 tablespoons sour cream
• 1 teaspoon salt
• 12 slices good-quality whole-wheat sandwich bread

Salmon Club

• 6 tablespoons mayonnaise
• 5 tablespoons minced fresh basil
• 1 teaspoon grated lemon peel

• 3 tablespoons olive oil
• 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
• 4 5- to 6-ounce skinless salmon fillets (each about 3/4 inch thick)

• 8 bacon slices
• 1 small red onion, sliced

• 8 1/2-inch-thick sourdough or country-style white bread slices (each about 5x3 inches)
• 8 tomato slices

Roast Beef Sandwich with Lemon-Basil Mayonnaise and Roasted Red Onions

• 3 large red onions (about 2 1/2 pounds), each cut through stem into 8 wedges, peeled
• 7 tablespoons extra-virgin olive oil
• 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar

• 1 cup mayonnaise
• 1/4 cup chopped fresh basil
• 1 1/2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
• 2 1/4 teaspoons grated lemon peel

• 6 4x3-inch pieces ciabatta,* halved horizontally
• 16 ounces thinly sliced roast beef
• 2 cups arugula
